ABOUT CARLY

Carly Jibson, a Midwest native, was discovered in her home town of Muskegon, Michigan at the age of 16 after having performed in the world premier of "Crash Nation" at Cherry County Playhouse in the summer of 2001. She then, bitten by the bug, decided to drop out of high school at the end of her senior year and moved to New York City when she was just 17 years old. She was lucky enough to have landed the role of Tracy Turnblad starring in the first National Tour of "Hairspray," a mere 5 months into her move, which she originated on the road with Bruce Vilanch. After having spent 7 months touring the country she was tranfered into the New York company in the Spring of 2004 where she re-opened the Broadway version of "Hairspray" with Michael McKean and Peter Scolari. After almost 2 solid years of some serious Tracy Turnblad'in, Jibson took a much needed break, just two months shy of her 21st birthday and returned home to her roots in Michigan.

Her next venture brought her to Chicago, in 2006, where she originated the World Premier of Andrew Lippa's "Asphalt Beach" playing Baby Manicotti. A few months later she was back in New York developing a new Broadway musical with some of her old hairspray family. Eventually, it brought her back to the 'Great White Way' to originate the role of "Pepper Walker" in Cry baby in 2008. After a short lived run, very short ya'll, Carly booked her first TV gig playing a spunky, yet very complex character (aren't they all?) on All My Children. Having decided to give theater a rest for a while, Carly began to delve into writing and producing concert series. In the fall of 2009 she premiered "Not A Bitch, Not Yet A Woman" an emotion filled, musical truth session unveiling the REAL biography of Jibson's life and career thus far. This sold out performance at Joe's Pub in NYC was a featured part of the Sh-K-Boom/ghostlight series. In 2010, she decided it was time to dive back on to the stage and spent the summer in Boston doing the world premier of "Johnny Baseball" directed by the Tony Award winning Diane Paulus. But the fall of that year was when things really took a turn, as Carly began to write her very first original album entitled "Best of Me" which was released in the late summer of 2011 on itunes and CDbaby.

Ready to make the move into music full time, she then created, produced and starred in an original new concert series "HEADLINERS" which featured the incredibly talented fellow singer/songwriters: Katie Thompson, Kacie Sheik and Tony Award winning Lena Hall. This, along with the anticipated return of "Fat Camp," a musical Carly had been apart of since its inception 6 years prior, opening off Broadway in the spring of 2012, landed Carly a spot on MTV's new reality show "Making It."

But sadly on the eve of her opening night party, Carly was devastated to learn that her mother had been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and had to make the difficult decision to put everything on hold and return home to be with her family. After an unexpected but incredibly beautiful and blessed 2 years, her beautiful mother Renee, lost her battle in the winter of 2013.

In a new and invigorated effort, Carly has recently moved to Los Angeles, where she is writing a pilot, working on a new album, auditioning, teaching voice and singing/performing every week in some concert version of something in LA, be sure the check the calendar for details! She can currently be seen in the "Unauthorized Musical Parody of Scream" every Friday and Saturday night at The Rockwell starring "Modern Family's" Sarah Hyland.
